Electric bike hire and sales

We began renting and selling electric bikes in NZ in 2014 and now have bikes available for rent at a range of agents around the country. Our popular and super user friendly eBikes is a great hassle free way you can provide a clean green, safe and super fun option for your customers/visitors to site see or to use an an activity in its self. Customers have the option of a half or a full day hire and payments are processed right here on our website via credit or debit card. At the end of the month or at a frequency that suits – we process your commission. It’s that easy. We do a regular maintenance run of our existing sites and would add you into that run. Should a bike require unscheduled maintenance such as a tire change or brake adjustment we will have a local technician come and do a service.

ORBITebike is our own NZ designed and tested brand. With handpicked components and a custom designed frame we have narrowed our focus down to one style of bike that perfectly suits the conditions of NZ’s blend of off road track and road cycling – we call it the proton – it’s a fancy futuristic sounding name because eBikes are absolutely the future of car-alternative travel. It comes in either a 250w or 300w version with a hub motor and frame hidden long life lithium ion Samsung battery tech and is available as a ladies step through model also.

As well as ORBIT we also supply Smart Motion eBikes in our rental fleet. Smart Motion are one of NZ’s longest serving and most trusted brands and when you’re looking to go for a nice comfortable cruise to see the sites there’s no better eBike for the job.

Are your electric bikes certified?

Yes all bikes and motors are CE Standard, and en15194 rated

How do the electrics work?

Just switch on the key and turn the throttle gently down towards you or simply start pedalling and the motor will kick in after 2 rotations. Change the motor speed by selecting between 1 and 5 on the electric switch console

Will your bikes go up hills?

Yes! With hub motors, depending on rider weight, you will need to use pedal assist to some degree to go up a steep incline

Why does the range vary?

Range depends so much on terrain, headwind and riders. on flat roads, you will need between 6 watt hours per km and more going uphill, less if you cycle along to help the motor. The LCD meter gives a very accurate reading of how many watts are being supplied to the motor so adjustments can be made to increase range.
